SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had, a few hours before the end of the state assembly session, called a press conference to blame the Barisan Nasional for the then imminent failure to secure a two-thirds majority for the constitutional amendment.
He hinted then that he would be willing to reconsider allowing Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi to take an oath of secrecy before him as the state secretary.
"I am disappointed with their decision (BN's representatives)," said Khalid, who claimed that the session was a success in upholding the sanctity of the state assembly.
Khusrin's fate is expected to be discussed at the state executive council meeting tomorrow "along with other inputs collated in yesterday's debate".
"Khusrin's legality has been ascertained but his legitimacy will depend on performance," said Khalid at the 4.45pm press conference.
The new state secretary had taken his oath of loyalty to the Sultan of Selangor on Jan 6 but having started work, he could not attend exco meetings or sign important documents.
Khalid said he believed that the recent episode between Khusrin and the state exco would not hamper Khusrin's job if Pakatan Rakyat agreed to let him take his oath of secrecy before the menteri besar.
"People have different characteristics and all it takes is good management to bring them to work together," he said.
Khalid also promised that despite the failure to secure a two-thirds majority, Pakatan would raise the issue with the sultan again on bringing back the power of the appointment of three state ex officio should they win in the next state election with a two-thirds majority.
